I suppose I owe everyone a new entry. Yes, I’m lazy – but I was waiting for a good photo to go along with the blog entry. Of course, I’ve been too busy to take photos. So there you have it.
So what’s new? I harvested four heritage tomatoes from my garden. I know, I know, four isn’t that many. But considering I have only one half-baked tomato plant that I stuck in the soil halfway into the growing season, I feel quite blessed. And, I got the plant for free, so doubly blessed at that.
My little perennial bed at the front of the house is a haven for bees. At any given time, there are at least three dozen bumbles buzzing happily away out there. What’s interesting is that there seems to be a kind of super bee visiting the flowers this year – a bee so huge, it eclipses the regular bumble variety at three times its size. Watching these bees go about their work is like watching the Nimrod take off and land. It takes them a lot longer to get their wings moving fast enough to fly. Where did these giants come from?
The backyard is still quite a mess. But I plan to have the nicest veggie garden out there next year. Let the dreaming begin!
